Although FSX does support moving carriers, the VUSN will continue to use static carriers for the foreseeable future. As we continue down the path of FSX and naval operations, we are sure that enhancements and improvements will ahead.
Memorial Day is a good time to reflect on the
sacrifices and services of the American soldiers and veterans
and the
U.S. military men and women. The American military is, has
always been
and will always recruit the best and finest of the crop of young
men and
women of the country and we will continue to shower them with
appreciation, support and prayers, as we have always done.
Memorial Day
is just an opportunity for us to express the special places they
have in
the hearts of American citizens and more by honoring the people
who work
in the various branches of the military.
LT James "Jet" Thomas has transferred from HMLA-167 to HC-5 effective immediately. LT Thomas will continue to support the Fleet in a variety of rotary wing airframes. Please welcome LT Thomas aboard.
The Operating Forces and Shorecom Commands, are please to announce the development of the CATCC CQ scoring system which will become effective on 01 May 2010. This new system will be similar to the real world LSO rating system and provide pilots with scoring on their individual passes at the boat using vPAR and CATCC controllers. Additionally, the pilot's procedural proficiencies will also be graded during each pass. Detail information about the system is available in the VUSN CQ/LSO Grading System Orientation document for your review. You should also take the time to review the Carrier VTOPS Manual 2008 v2 to brush up on your procedural understanding.
The Fleet Greenboard has been replaced with a new version
that will indicate all Naval Aviator's CQ and procedural scores and
ranking within the Fleet, as well as the Squadron average scores. The
existing Fleet Greenboard will now become the Fleet Currency page which
will continue to indicate the number of days for specific currency
requirements. The scores will be used monthly to recognized the Top
Hook within the VUSN, as well as the Squadron with the highest CQ average
score. This is your opportunity gentlemen to be recognized as the
"best of the best" as individuals and squadrons. The CQ scoring system will require that each pilot have
at least 6 scored passes each month to be eligible for ranking. In
addition, all pilots will be required to have at least one scored pass
each month or you will be issued a CQ requalification mission.
The month of May will focus on Case I operations, then we
will move to Case III operations in June, then subsequent months to variations of Case III
operations with different weather, EAT push times, and emergency
procedures. We expect that you are all up for the challenge and look forward to seeing you all at the boat and at the top of Greenboard.
