How to become a Virtual Naval/Marine Aviator with the VUSN/VUSMC?
The Virtual United States Navy (VUSN) and the Virtual United States Marine Corps(VUSMC) is a VERY unique MILITARY organization that conducts training and operations in the VATSIM environment and other platforms. The VUSN/VUSMC is NOT a virtual airline, but rather a virtual military organization that emulates REAL world naval and Marine aviation to the best of our ability in the virtual environment. Our expectations are HIGH....... we are looking for aviators that are at least 21 years of age and have a strong interest in naval /marine aviations and carrier operations and willingness to learn, train and fly OFTEN. We are looking for dedication and commitment and in return we will offer you a challenging, and unique adventure to your flight simming experience.
Just like our real world counterpart, you will be expected to proceed through the various training programs in order to master the complexities of naval carrier operations. Training means reading manuals as you progress through training pipelines and learning the nuiances of naval/marine operations. This isn't about entering the organization and strapping on a F/A-18 your first day and heading out to the carrier. You will start, as real world nuggets do, in the training airframes.....the T-6 Texan II, then the T-45 Goshawk for carrier operations or TH-57 Sea Ranger (Helo). Once you graduate from the training command you will train in your assigned Fleet or Marine airframe and eventually transition into your fleet or Marine sqaudron. We do have a minimum of 2 hours per month to maintain active flight status, but you will find yourself flying much more than that to remain proficient and current.
It is essential that you have a working knowledge of the follow in order to be successful. The majority of your operations will be conducted on VATSIM or a private server. The VUSN/VUSMC flys strictly ONLINE and no offline flights are accepted. It is imperative that you understand and have the following programs setup prior to enlisting:
FS2004 or FSX with Acceleration installed and operational
FSINN (preferred) installed and ready for Internet connection
FSINN VVL
Working knowledge of VATSIM and at least 10 hours of VATSIM operations
Teamspeak
Knowledge of installing Aircraft, Scenery, and other addons
NOTE:It is not the purpose of VUSN/VUSMC to give tutorials on FSINN, VATSIM, Firewalls, etc, but to immerse the advanced pilot/computer user in Naval and Marine aviation.
What should I expect after Enlistment and what are the VUSN/VUSMC Training Requirements?
After reading this introduction, you will need to complete the enlistment process (READ THE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY)
Submission of a IFS (Introductory Flight Screening) check flight video is the first step and is MANDATORY. This MUST be submitted within 15 days of enlistment or you will not be permitted to re-enlist for 60 days. Detailed instructions will be provided
Once the IFS is passed and you are accepted into the VUSN/VUSMC you will need to select which branch you would like to enter, either the VUSN ( Naval aviator) or VUSMC (Marine Aviation). You will start at the rank of ENSIGN (VUSN Nugget) or 2nd Lt (VUSMC Nugget) and be assigned to the TRACOM (Training Command) under the direct supervision and command of CNIT (Chief of Naval Instruction and Training)
TRACOM consists of 2 pipelines: Primary flight training and Intermediate Carrier Pipeline or Intermediate Rotor/Helo Pipeline (depends on the airframe you list during the enlistment process)
Primary flight training consists of 3 modules in the T-6 Texan II (Familiarization/Navigation flights) PLUS a mandatory Check flight with an Instructor Pilot. Upon graduating Primary flight training you will be assigned to the Intermediate Carrier Pipeline or the Intermediate Rotor/Helo pipeline. Intermediate Carrier pipeline consists of 9 training modules and culminates in Carrrier Qualification (CARQUALS) in the T-45 Goshawk. Intermediate Rotor/Helo pipeline consists of 7 training modules and culminates in Deck Landing Qualification (DLQ). Either will earn you Wings of Gold.
You MUST be actively flying while in training. If you are inactive for 15 days (not flying the modules) you will receive an automated INACTIVE email notice. If you remain inactive for a total of 30 days you will be automatically Administratively Separated (ADSEP) from the VUSN. WE ARE LOOKING FOR COMMITTMENT AND DEDICATION!
Upon Graduating from TRACOM you will be assigned to the Fleet Readiness Training Program (FRTP) in your fleet or Marine squadrons Primary Airframe. This advanced flight training prepares you for your fleet operational tasking and provides your airframe qualification in your fleet/marine aircraft. FRTP MUST be completed in 45 days.
After graduating FRTP you will be assigned to your Fleet or Marine squadron as an operational line pilot and can participate in squadron activites, exercises and deployments.
As you can see, there is MUCH more to the VUSN/VUSMC than signing up and flying to the boat your first day. You will NOT have access to carriers, scenery or airframes until you are qualified to do so.
We are looking for those pilots that have a passion for Naval or Marine aviation and want to LEARN. If you think you are that type of aviator, then you've come to the right place. The VUSN/VUSMC will give you a challenging, exciting and FUN experience unlike any other online virtual organization.
So if after reading this introduction you feel you have the drive, determination, and commitment to get started on your way to earning those coveted "WINGS of GOLD" ..........the next step is CLICK the WINGS OF GOLD (below) to begin earning your right to becoming a Virtual Naval or Marine Aviator with the VUSN/VUSMC.
