Gentlemen:

I am interested in being a member of this organization and I believe it is a fine example of what can be accomplished in an online community supporting our hobby of simulated aviation. I am, however, frustrated with some of the replies that I have received. Let me assure you of a couple of small points:

1. I am capable of reading and understanding the English language.
2. I can follow step-by-step directions, install software and trouble-shoot computer equipment - I've done it for a...

Ensign,
The T-6 does indeed have a GPS built into the panel. Your correct, the buttons are static and do not function. This airplane is the IRIS T-6 given to use by Iris simulations. It does not have the Default FSX GPS referenced. If you have a flight plan selected your T-6 GPS will display nav information. TRACOM is about learning and navigating your airframe. Much of what you will be doing is manually flying your aircraft.
As far as VORS, if you read and followed the instruction in T-6 FAM module you w...

Eddie,

I will try to reply here once since I was the first pilot going through the FSX TRACOM and have first-hand experience. All problems should be addressed through your chain of command though so this is a one-time thing.

1) The T-6 doesn't have a GPS and you shouldn't need one. All the flights are NAV exercises using standard radio navigation and the GPS is not permitted.

2) Yes, I recall that the NSE TACAN didn't have a VOR readout in the provided scenery. Either work around it or bring it up ...

Thanks for the info. I did get the approach plates.

I noticed I was not clear on my last post regarding the controls in the T-6...only the GPS controls do not work. I'm unable to bring up an FS GPS (shift-3) nor do the controls on the aircraft panel do anything. All other functions are good.

Let's keep in touch regarding the FSInn stuff.

Thanks,

Eddie,

As a Fleet Aviator whose presently transitioning from FS9 to FSX "I feel your pain" but maybe I can help with one or two of these problems.

1. My T-6 has no GPS. None of the controls are useable on the T-6 model that I have (FS-X). I don't mind not having a GPS, but without TACAN (see 2 below) it's a pain.

Not familiar with the T-6 but an email to your immediate boss there who should be happy to help you get going in the right direction on this one. Drop him a SPARC.

2. I have no TACA...

It seems I am plauged by problems getting set up in the vUSN:

1. My T-6 has no GPS. None of the controls are useable on the T-6 model that I have (FS-X). I don't mind not having a GPS, but without TACAN (see 2 below) it's a pain.

2. I have no TACAN working. (I have downloaded FS-X scenery/tacan files). I get DME on the NSE Tacan, but no heading info. I do get heading info from Crestview.

3. I can not locate/download NSE approach plates for RWY 5 from any source.

4. My Comm 2 radio control...

Thank you for the kind words. I *really* appreciate them.

I look forward to slowing down a bit. Please note I said a bit. I say that as I've got three machines running hard doing different tasks - one of which is downloading all the FS-X stuff needed since I wiped FS-X SP1 off my drive and am putting the new (gold) one on a clean 1TB drive. There will be plenty of room now.

It was a bad, bad week last. I hope to never repeat it again. Too many things pulling in too many directions all at once. ...

Geoff,

I want to thank you for the apology, and re-affirm to you that the Staff and members of this organization hold you in high regard, both personally and with an eye towards your achievements in the flight sim world. I look forward to working with you as a key member of the FSX transition team and the CO of HC-5.
