The VUSN operates Fleet Logistics Support Wing (FLSW) operations on the VATSIM and POSCON networks using a variety of aircraft, such as the Boeing 737 (C-40), Lockheed C-130, Citation CJ4, Beech King Air, a variety of helicopters, and occasional vintage aircraft. The FLSW division of VUSN has its own distinct webpage imbedded in vusn.org for tracking flight operations with an ACARs system, statistics, and pilot ranking system. The FLSW operations are tracked completely separate from VUSN DCS World operations.
POSCON is a multiplayer online network that connects users of various flight simulator platforms together with virtual air traffic controllers in an interactive, immersive, and realistic environment. The VUSN is a fully certified Military Virtual Operator the POSCON network and can conduct all types of combat and non-combat operations. UNRESTRICTED POSCON OPERATIONS
The following types of operations are allowed by the VUSN on the POSCON network:
- Training exercises within Special Use Airspace (SUA)
- Simulated war games
- Air-to-air refueling
- Aircraft carrier and Carrier Air Traffic Control Center (CATCC) operations
- Low level military operations utilizing published military routes
- Escort missions
- Air Combat Maneuvers (ACM)
- Intercept operations
- Search and Rescue (SAR) operations
- Cargo and passenger operations
- Airdrops
- Air shows, demonstrations, and displays
VATSIM (short for the Virtual Air Traffic Simulation Network) is a completely free online platform which allows virtual pilots, wherever they are in the world, to connect their flight simulators into one shared virtual world. VATSIM also simulates air traffic control in this virtual world, creating the ultimate as-real-as-it-gets experience for you, the virtual aviation enthusiast. The VUSN operated on VATSIM for 20-years, but moved primarily to DCS for combat operations. VUSN is once again going to return to VATSIM, however, not as a VSOA member. VATSIM does allow anyone to fly military aircraft on the network, as designated on a filed flight plan with separate departure and destination locations. None of the privileges mentioned below will be allowed by VUSN pilots, as the VUSN is not a member of the VSOA.
RESTRICTED VATSIM OPERATIONS
The following types of operations are NOT allowed by the VUSN on the VATSIM network:
- Conducting joint training exercises with other approved VSO organizations
- War games
- Air to air refueling
- Carrier operations
- Flying low level military routes
- Flying escort missions
- Executing air combat maneuvers
- Interception/scramble of other aircraft
- Having access to special use airspace.
- Search & Rescue Operations
- Firefighting Operations
- Launch and Recovery of Space Vehicles
- Air Displays (Flying Displays, Races)
